Business Promotion Event in Pasikuda Featuring Sustainable Solutions
On January 25, 2024, YMCA Batticaloa concluded a highly successful business promotion event in Pasikuda! We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to showcase the innovative plastic alternative products developed by 6 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) involving persons with disabilities and women-headed family members.
The response from both local and international tourists was truly remarkable. The sales of plastic alternative products exceeded 30,000 rupees, and we received additional orders worth 20,000 rupees. This demonstrates the growing demand for sustainable solutions and the willingness of consumers to support environmentally-friendly initiatives.
Visitors from various parts of Sri Lanka eagerly attended our event, showing their support by purchasing these sustainable products. Their enthusiasm and commitment to making a positive impact on the environment were truly inspiring. We were particularly touched by the story of one international tourist who shared her connection with our funders, CBM, and commended the YMCA for spearheading such impactful initiatives.
As part of our commitment to raising awareness about the harmful effects of plastic, we distributed anti-plastic pamphlets to approximately 500 tourists. These pamphlets provided valuable information on the environmental consequences of plastic pollution and offered practical tips on reducing plastic consumption in daily life. By educating and empowering individuals, we believe that we can collectively make a difference in creating a greener and more sustainable future.
