Introduction: In a resolute display of commitment, YMCA Batticaloa proudly joined the UN Walk 2023, a significant event held at Viharamahadevi Park towards Independence Arcade on 30.11.2023. Organized by UNFPA, this walk aimed to champion the cause of ending violence against women and girls, aligning with the global movement of 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

1. Walking in Unity: Supporting a Global Cause YMCA Batticaloa actively participated in the UN Walk 2023, demonstrating our unwavering support for the crucial mission of ending violence against women and girls. The walk, organized by UNFPA, provided a platform for collective action and solidarity.

2. 16 Days of Activism: A Global Movement The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, an international campaign from November 25 to December 10, holds profound relevance in Sri Lanka. With statistics revealing that 1 in 4 women and girls in the country have experienced intimate partner violence (DCS 2019), this campaign emphasizes the urgency of addressing gender-based violence.
