On a bright October morning, Batticaloa came alive with excitement as young people gathered for the Youth Bible Challenge 2024. This event brought together 15 teams from different churches and schools in the area, each eager to show their knowledge of the Bible. It wasn’t just a competition; it was a time to share faith, learn, and strengthen friendships within our community.
Testing Their Knowledge
The competition included rounds that focused on different parts of the Bible, testing both the Old and New Testament knowledge. In the Old Testament round, questions covered family histories, stories, and laws, while the New Testament round focused on the life of Jesus, Paul’s letters, and the Book of Revelation. Each round helped the participants dive deeper into the Word of God, encouraging them to understand the message behind the scriptures.
A Tough Final Round
As the competition reached the final round, the pressure grew, and only a few teams remained. Despite the difficult questions, the teams remained calm and thoughtful. Their efforts and hard work showed, and in the end, three teams emerged as the winners:
- First Place: Our Lady of Presentation Church, Thandavanvelly
- Second Place: Jesus Saves by Grace Ministries
- Third Place: St. Cecilia’s Girls’ College
These teams not only demonstrated strong knowledge but also displayed respect, teamwork, and the values taught in the Bible.

While the competition was important, the true blessing was the spirit of unity and fellowship that it inspired. Young people from different backgrounds came together as one, united in faith.
